Ian D Scott - Profile
Mr.
Scott is a proven senior manager, having been the President and CEO
of a medium sized high tech company. He has particular skills and
experience in marketing industrial products internationally. He joined
a company with sales of $400,000; when he left, sales had exceeded
$15,000,000.
When
Mr. Scott was hired by the company, it consisted of a President (sales
and marketing), Engineering Department (one chemical/mechanical engineer,
one electrical engineer, one draughtsman), a Comptroller and a Production
Department (shop floor of 12 staff). Mr. Scott progressed to President
and CEO while helping the company grow to one with an Engineering
Department of 10 (6 P.Eng.), Sales and Marketing Department of 3 (all
P.Eng.), Technology Department of 6 (3 P.Eng., 1 PhD), Customer Service
Department of 3, Production Department of 25 and Accounting Department
of 3. Over half of the $15,000,000 in sales were in the SE Asia market,
where Mr. Scott had established and maintained agents and distributors
for marketing the company's products.
Mr. Scott
holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Chemistry
from the University of Toronto. He has been a member of the Board
and Executive Committee of Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters and
its predecessor, The Canadian Exporters' Association, for over 10
years. During this time he has chaired and participated in discussions
and presented seminars dealing with export trade issues.
