QUESTAIR TECHNOLOGIES INC, Vancouver.

Marketing Consultant - (1999-present)
Selected accomplishments:
proposed the development of a new hydrogen generation technology incorporating QuestAir purification systems. Proposal led to a 3 phase contract to: evaluate the viability; develop a business model and; build a prototype system.
prepared conceptual designs and pricing for compression systems which improve the recovery rate of QuestAir purification systems at petrochemical refineries.

 

THE ELECTROLYSER CORPORATION LTD. (Electrolyser), Toronto (1985 - 1999)

The Electrolyser Corporation Ltd. manufactures electrolytic hydrogen and oxygen gas generation equipment. Since the company was formed in 1948, 900 generators have been sold in over 90 countries.

Vice President, Marketing. (1996 - 1999)
Responsible for directing sales, marketing and customer service functions including management of a team of 6 professionals. As part of the senior management team, accountable for facilitating the effective co-ordination of interdepartmental activities.

Selected accomplishments:
recruited and trained a senior marketing engineer to prepare quotations for international power station tenders which doubled sales in this sector from $2.3 M to $4.6 M
effectively used market research and negotiating skills to maximise the sales margin on large international contracts
suggested and successfully implemented the development of packaged plants which reduced the installed cost of our equipment by up to 30%
the above initiatives helped increased sales by 50% to $14 M over a 2 year period
advanced the development of a new design which should lead to a 40% reduction in costs within 4 years
developed effective relationships with international agents which improved exposure and product awareness
negotiated settlements of warranty claims on favourable terms which exceeded management's expectations

Director, Eastern Electrolyser Ltd. (Eastern). (1991 to 1999)
Eastern is an Electrolyser joint venture company founded in 1991, which manufactures electrolytic hydrogen and oxygen gas generators in New Delhi, India for the local market.
Selected accomplishments:

applied for and received a $200,000 grant from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) to facilitate the technology transfer
prepared a market survey which led to the formation of Eastern
applied for and received approval from the Government of India for the company to begin operations
negotiated the first sale for Eastern, without which the project would not have proceeded further
liased with the Canadian and Indian partners and lawyers to draft legal agreements
participated in "Team Canada" trade efforts to meet local executives and government officials and to promote Eastern's capabilities which led to greater exposure for both Eastern and Electrolyser
negotiated sales contracts for Eastern
designed and implemented operating procedures to ensure effective co-ordination of projects between Electrolyser and Eastern

Marketing Engineer. (1988 to 1996)
Responsible for providing customers with a single point of contact, from initial discussions to negotiation of sales contracts and after sales. Select equipment required to meet the customer's needs and prepare formal proposals including preliminary drawings and cost estimate. Strong presentation and negotiating skills are required to convert these proposals into contracts.

Selected accomplishments:
automated the proposal preparation process which enabled faster and more accurate delivery of detailed offers
negotiated contracts with large engineering companies in Argentina, India, Pakistan, Japan, Chile, Colombia, China, France, Egypt, Honduras, Guatemala, Canada, USA, Malaysia

Design Engineer. (1985 to 1988)
Designed and supervised the assembly of the mechanical components of electrolytic hydrogen and oxygen plants.

Responsibilities included:
preparation of detailed process and instrumentation, piping and mechanical assembly drawings
installation and start-up of the entire plant, including the electrical power conditioning equipment, electrolytic cells, control panel, compressors and purification system
design and testing of a desiccant dryer for hydrogen service
CAD system management
