André J. Galipeault - Profile
Mr.
Galipeault, C.M., is the President of The Galipeault Group Inc.
After
having obtained a law degree from McGill University, Mr. Galipeault
practiced law for a few years before joining Texaco Canada Inc. where
he assumed various responsibilities within the law department and
in the management of the corporation in general. He retired from the
corporation as Vice-President and General Counsel in 1990 and subsequently
became the President of the national and international law firm Fasken
Martineau Davis.
He then
assumed the presidency of the Institute of Corporate Directors, an
organization striving to further the practice of good governance within
the private, public and not-for-profit segments of Canadian institutions.
The Galipeault Group Inc while providing board advisory services is
also specializing in fundraising for the not-for-profit sector.
Mr. Galipeault
has served and continues to serve on a number of boards. He is Governor
of York University and of the Canadian Centre for Management Development,
the Vice-Chair of the National Ballet School and the Chair of Project
Work. He is a member of the board of the Toronto Arts Council Foundation,
the Canadian Stage Company, the Royal Conservatory of Music and Le
Cercle Canadien de Toronto. Past President of the National Ballet
of Canada and of the National Theatre School, he was also a director
of Opera Hamilton, The Toronto Arts Foundation, The Ballet Opera House
Corporation, The Toronto International Festival and the Power Plant.
Mr.
Galipeault was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada as a philanthropist
and arts promoter who has contributed over the years to the vitality
of Canadian culture.
